Synopsis:
Two Catalonias is a Netflix documentary analyzing the political conflict surrounding the 2017 Catalan elections. The film follows the candidates across settings ranging from Catalonia to Brussels and correctional facilities, bringing together testimonies from intellectuals, legal experts, politicians, and journalists to paint a portrait of that sociopolitical moment.

The Challenge:
For this production, director Álvaro Longoria once again turned to illustrator Aleix Saló to visualize several key scenes of the project. At Luee Animació, we took on the challenge of bringing these illustrations to life, integrating Aleix’s personal and satirical style into the serious and analytical discourse of the documentary.

This new collaboration allowed us to use animation as a narrative tool to explain complex political dynamics, providing a fluid visual counterpoint to a production spearheaded by Rafael Portela, Gerardo Olivares, and Álvaro Longoria.
