Valentina de Montblanc premiere

Míriam Bonastre and LUEE Animació make history with “Valentina de Montblanc“: the first anime-style series in Catalan arrives on 3Cat!

We are very excited to finally be able to share one of the greatest milestones in our studio’s history: the premiere of “Valentina de Montblanc“! A 3Cat production made in direct collaboration with LUEE Animació, born from the brilliant mind of the internationally renowned illustrator Míriam Bonastre (author of the Hooky phenomenon) and under the direction of our colleague Àlex Roca.

This project was born with the intention of becoming a benchmark for animation and comics in our language, opening the door to the anime genre produced entirely in Catalonia.

An epic adventure with roots in catalan mythology

The story begins when Princess Valentina wakes up in Montblanc Castle and realizes that everyone has mysteriously disappeared. To solve the mistery and face the dark force behind the disappearances, she will ally with the knight Jordi, the tiny Patufet and the magician Soc (a very peculiar magical log).

Over the course of six episodes, the journey mixes action, humor and a large dose of its own identity, leading the protagonists to face creatures and fantastic beings from Catalan mythology (such as the giant Puigmal or the water women).

Behind the cameras (and pencils): From the drawing boards of LUEE Animació we have worked side by side with Míriam to transfer her unique artistic vision to the screen, taking care of each stroke so that the essence of the Japanese style organically combines with our landscapes and legends.

Outstanding technical and voice over talent

Apart from the artistic section coordinated by the studio, the series has a spectacular original soundtrack created by Eloi Casellas. In addition, the voice over (made at Sonilab Studios under the direction of Mariona Bosch) has a cast with very recognized voices from anime in our country such as Iris Lago (One Piece), Xavier Castañer (Fullmetal Alchemist) or Marc Cañadell (Guardianes de la noche).
